What Is Abortion?

Abortion is a serious medical procedure designed to terminate a pregnancy. Like any other procedure or medication, it can have serious side effects and risks worth considering before you make your decision.

Medication Abortion

A medication abortion goes by many names: The abortion pill, medical abortion, RU-486, and more. It’s a series of two drugs designed to end and then expel a pregnancy within the first 10 weeks.

Surgical Abortion

There are a few different types of surgical abortion depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy. Most involve the use of a suction cannula which is a thin, hollow tube with a sharp pointed end. This tube is inserted into the cervix to remove the fetus, placenta and membranes from the woman’s uterus.  (MN Dept. What Should I Do If I’m Considering An Abortion?
